Serving at St. John’s is a gift that individuals offer in many ways: unique gifts of skills and time that are meaningful to them. There are many ways to directly support our Ministers, staff, Church community and our mission-to love our neighbour as we are loved, and extends beyond the walls of the church into our city and our global community. There are a variety of ways you can serve within St. John’s – participating in the work of our ministry teams with facilitation or childcare during gatherings and events or helping greet those attending services. We welcome everyone, and your interests and skills in any capacity will be embraced.
At St. John’s, our life and work has been organized into ten teams of volunteers, that work on behalf of the Church Council, Ministry staff, Trustees and wider congregation.

Reaching out beyond our walls to be the hands and feet of Christ in our world is the mission of our congregation, and of the United Church of Canada. United Church people across the country join together to share what we can with people and places in need through a unified fund called Mission and Service. This Fund transform lives, and inspires meaning and purpose as we build a better world. More about the Mission & Service fund here: https://youtu.be/lHYh0I188l0 or here: Mission-and-service
St. John’s has a faithful history of active involvement stretching over several decades with many local charities. Throughout the year, St. John’s Outreach Team organizes and hosts a variety of fundraising events that are open to everyone to attend: Soup Lunches, Community Dinners, an annual Rummage Sale and Christmas Bazaar, the proceeds of which support our community partners, as well as our Seniors Lunch program, Essentials Kits, and other initiatives.

At St. John’s United Church, we are proud to partner with Acclaim Health and the Meals on Wheels program to host special lunches for older adults in our community three times each year.
These gatherings provide an opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal, connect with friends old and new, and spend time in a warm and welcoming environment. More than just a meal, these events foster community, conversation, and meaningful connections for seniors throughout Oakville.
We are grateful for our partnership with Acclaim Health and Meals on Wheels, whose support helps make these special afternoons possible. We look forward to welcoming older adults from across our community to share food, fellowship, and friendship at St. John’s.
