About the Service

Have you ever asked yourself “I wish church wasn’t boring”? Well we’ve asked that ourselves, and we came up with an answer! Our service is an exciting night where we convey a message that is relevant to youth through dramas, music, prayer, multimedia, interactivity and other things you don't usually find in a church!

Music

Music is vital to a teenager’s life. So why not use it to both proclaim the word of our Lord as well as learn more about Jesus’ teachings? You’ll hear both Christian music as well as all the stuff you hear on the radio, mixed together in a powerful and LOUD collage. The worship band is comprised entirely of talented young musicians who are dedicated in helping others worship and find God’s presence through music.

Prayer

Our service also includes a variety of ways to communicate with our ever listening God through worship and prayer. As we know that communication with a supreme being is a hard concept to grasp (not just for youth), we strive to help youth find effective ways to get in touch with God and meet us where we are.

Drama

Another large component of our service is our ever popular drama. Through the drama, youth from several different backgrounds are able to find common ground in the discussion of faith and everyday life using humour as well as handling serious issues in a way that is comfortable to large teen audiences.

Media

The use of multimedia presentation is a growing device in teaching within the modern church - it is also a proven fact that: people like pretty colours and music! At St. John's you'll see a wide variety of presentations that convey God's message through dramatic videos tailored to youth issues and faith.

Who does all of this?

Answer: the youth. The St. John’s Youth Service is planned and led by the youth at St. John’s United Church. High school aged teens from the church and the Oakville area use their God given talents and abilities to work together as a team to create a service that is designed by youth and put on for youth - a truly remarkable and powerful combination!
